10th Summer School in Political Philosophy and Public Policy From 2019-07-09 to 2019-07-11
Democracy, Corporations, and the Limits of the Market
Auditorium of ILCH
Invited speakers: Alan Thomas, Lisa Herzog, Abraham Singer, Isabel Ferreras. In this edition, we will explore the idea of moral limits to the market in capitalist societies as well as the notion, advanced by several authors, that the private company is a political entity that ought to be subject to legal and moral rules and limits analogous to those which exist for other kinds of political communities, such as nation-states. The private company doesn't have to be, nor should it be, a morality-free or justice-free space in liberal democratic societies.
