Nota biográfica:
My current research focuses on the philosophies of transhumanism and the ethics of human enhancement. I'm developing a version of the welfarist approach to human enhancement which is grounded on a distinctive conception of human nature. My goal is to adapt C. B. Macpherson’s developmental notion of human nature in order to claim that it is possible and desirable to consider the ethics of human enhancement at the light of the normative prescriptions our human nature as creative purposive agents set on it. By fitting together the revised developmental notion and a proviso on how and in what ways human enhancement technologies are to be used, I hope to argue for a moderate biopolitical alternative called developmental democratic transhumanism. I’m also deeply interested in the ethical challenges posed by emerging and converging technologies, artificial intelligence, social robotics, and related technologies.
